Someone Needs to Dust and I’m Outta Here

Oh boy, I think that my maid needs to be fired after seeing all of the dust collecting around here! As you can probably guess, the wedding season and traveling combined have kind of kicked my butt. I’ve still been pretty good about getting images up on the Anna Lynch McClary Photography Facebook Page though. The ironic part is that I’m poking my head in here just to let everyone know that I’m jumping on another airplane tomorrow and will be out of reach for a few days. The next couple of weeks I get to travel to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Colorado, and even make a stop in Nebraska for weddings and senior sessions. I’m going to miss my bed and my kitties, but it should be a good time filled with lots of great photo opps.

Oh, and when I return, I vow to be a better blogger. To show my seriousness, here is one image from each of the sessions that I shared on Facebook today.

Gone Fishin’- Fort Wayne Children’s Photographer

My season kicks into full swing this week with seniors and engagement sessions and my wedding season starts next week. I’m so looking forward to getting back into the groove of things and hustle and bustle, but I was not expecting to start it off in the hole. Last week, out of nowhere (after spending the previous week out of the office) the flu got a hold of me. So that to do list that wasn’t all that intimidating is now looking a little scarier. I’m behind on emails right now, so if you’re waiting on one, know that I’m not ignoring you. Now, let’s not let this blog sit empty and unrefreshed for another day.

Brady took me fishing in his friend’s pond and out around the farm last fall.

Climbing Up

My to do list has been intimidating me lately. It seemed like the easiest thing for me to put off until “tomorrow” was writing my new blog posts. I used to do a fabulous job of posting up images to my blog the same day that they went up in the gallery. Lately… not so much. So, here I am helping “write new blog post” climb back up my to do list.

First one to get a checkmark is the first of the weddings from my last trip back to Colorado (sneak peek here). Nicole and Zach brought a little new and a little old into my wedding day routine in Julesburg. I’ve gotten to shoot a couple of weddings at the local Methodist church there, and have really been trying to challenge myself to do something new. The reception on the other hand, was at a brand new location to me. Over the last couple of years I had heard bits and pieces about the remodeled Hippodrome Theater and how fantastic it was. This, however was the first time I actually got to step foot in it. I already can’t wait to get back, it came out beautifully and I believe they still had a few finishing touches they were working on.

The little old and little new theme continues straight into Nicole and Zach. I’ve been a regular out in Sedgwick County for a little over five years now. From pretty much the beginning of those trips, I remembered hearing about a cute couple named Nicole and Zach. In fact, they have always pretty much been *that* cute couple to those who knew them. Zach went to Caliche, one of the little rival high schools down the highway, and Nicole of course, went to Julesburg.  In my book, anytime you can date your relationship back using the phrase, “in high school,” it counts as something old when comparing to the brand spanking new marriage and journey they just embarked on.

There’s so much excitement in the air as the girls get ready. I loved all of the hustle and bustle in the getting ready room.

I always love watching sisters interract, especially on such a special day.

You tell me, does stunning really do Nicole’s baby blues justice? Either way, the key players that day made my job super easy.

A Cold Dreary Winter =

I had almost three months at the beginning of the year, where I had to force myself to sit back behind my computer and do all of the little, not as fun as shooting, businessy things. Luckily, the majority of that time it was too cold and gray out for me to even want to go outside. Don’t get me wrong I did a little shooting for myself in that time though.

However, when it came time for me to shoot an awesome senior, on a beautiful sunshiney day last month, I ran with it. When I say I ran with it, I mean I shot and shot and shot. Editing Matt’s images down to a somewhat respectable (meaning not massive) number was hard (I may have failed there). The moral of the story was that a cold dreary winter + an awesome senior + a beautiful Spring day = lots of images!

You can check out Matt’s sneak peek here.

Finally Christmas Mini Sessions!

I know there are a few of you who have been checking back to see a concrete Christmas Mini Session post. Well, December 06 I will have six sessions available in Sterling. The session times are 7,8, and 9 a.m. and 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m. Each session will be approximately 30 minutes long and the location will be tailored specifically to you. Times will be booked on a first come, first serve basis. I am throwing around the idea of doing some December 01 in the Sedgwick, Ovid, and Julesburg area. If you are interested in one of those just follow the directions below.

To view specifics on the sessions click on the image above to download a pdf that goes over all of them!

I am calling these Christmas Mini Sessions, but have no plans to put anyone in front of a Christmas tree or anything seasonal. I understand and hope that these are images that you would want hung year round in your home. However, if you want something seasonal, I’m sure we can hunt it down!

These images will be available in the client section of my website to order off of no later than December 11. Any orders placed by 11:59 p.m. December 14 are guaranteed to be back no later than Christmas Eve without rush charges. Orders with cards in them will be bumped to the front of the line due to the nature of the product.

These shorter sessions might not be for everyone. If you are wanting unlimited time think about booking one of my regular sessions while I am in Colorado, November 29 through December 19 (some dates are already booked). For one of those price guides email me at anna@annalynchmcclary.com.

Now, if you’re ready to book a mini head over to www.annalynchmcclary.com and click on the client section. Enter the password ‘christmasmini’. That will bring up the same image as above, add it to your cart, then click on the cart icon in the bottom right corner, and then from the drop down menu select the only option. Simply fill out your info as you go. However, for tonight just select ’send order and arrange payment later’. I will email everyone tomorrow that books the session. I will go in order of emails received and give you the opportunity to select your time slot. From there I will send you an invoice for the session retainer, which needs to be finalized by Monday to reserve your spot.

If you have any questions feel free to email me (I am without a phone until Saturday). I am stepping away for the evening, but will get back to you right away tomorrow. If your question will affect whether you book or not, go ahead and book, and if you change your mind after I answer your question, no problem.

Wow, didn’t think I’d ever say this before Thanksgiving, but Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Jordan… The Return Trip

The first time we tried to get Jordan’s senior pictures done we were cut short thanks to the typical quick moving Colorado storm. This time, I made sure I didn’t comment on how perfect of a day we had so that I didn’t jinx us again. And you know what? We ended up having perfect weather and got some great shots! It is pretty much impossible to get a bad shot of Jordan though.

Thanks for making more time for us to finish up your session Jordan!

Emily and Garett

Earlier in the month I posted a few images from Emily and Garett’s day after session . Couples don’t get a whole lot better looking than these two. You can imagine, because of that how many great shots we got of them.

These two had dated for six years, starting back in high school. And just about everyone who knew these two, knew it was only a matter of time until we celebrated their wedding. The wait was definitely worth it. They delivered a beautiful ceremony and incredible, detail filled reception.

Emily got ready at her parent’s home with her mother. It made for some great shots. Her mom was absolutely beaming after Emily put her dress on.

Any bride can tell you that no matter how assured you are that everything is done perfectly there are still those excited nerves. The second that Emily and Garett saw each other, you could tell all of those nerves were completely forgotten.

Do you see what I mean about these two? They are a simply stunning couple!

These two were so lucky to have three of their siblings and friends give speeches that made their guests laugh and then a moment later put a lump in their throats. Emily’s sister Kayte stepped up the plate first.

I could post hundreds more images of this awesome wedding!

Thank you Emily and Garett!

A few more shots of Jordan

As promised, here are a few more of the shots we got of Jordan Monday night. It’s funny to watch the sky in the progression of images. It went from a beautiful blue sky day to pretty ominous and eventually raining. Jordan was a good sport for all of it though!

This was about the point that we knew we were going to get to deal with some weather.

The sky did offer some beautiful clouds though.

How did I get so lucky?

Monday night I got the chance to shoot a senior girl, something that I didn’t get to do last year. I forget how much fun girls are to shoot (not that guys aren’t, they just aren’t girly :) ) On top of that, Jordan is gorgeous. How do you take a bad picture of this girl?!

Anyhow, I have plenty more to blog from her session, but wanted to get one up today. I’ll be back tomorrow with a longer post and a few more shots!

BIG Prints and Wall Arrangements

Anyone who has been in our home or since we’ve moved so much in the last year, our homes knows that I have an addiction to BIG prints. Our living room wall is covered in four 16×20’s, our bedroom has one big 16×24, and that’s just the start of it. I do kind of laugh when someone refers to an 8×10 as a BIG print, because I’ve gotten to the point that those are my little prints. A print with some size can really make a statement in a room. That, and everything I print, I print because I love it or the person/people in it and don’t want to have to get right up next to the picture to really enjoy it.

When I was back in Colorado I went over to Kayte’s home (this is her little guy) to figure out what she wanted to order. She showed be the wall that she wanted to put the shots up on and we figured out a wall arrangement with some big images that are going to be beautiful in their home. If you have a spot picked out for the images, let me help you figure out the best way to display them and the best sizes for your spot.

When I buy or shoot new pictures and go to print them, I view them as an investment. They aren’t just going to be around for a year or two, I hope that I can pass them down and have them be as treasured as I hold my grandparent’s and parent’s pictures.

Here is the arrangement that we came up with for Kayte. The b&w center image is a 16×24 and the long skinny prints are 10×20’s. I can’t wait to see this up!

Look for a bunch of new stuff on the blog throughout this week. Tomorrow is going to be a busy workday. I figured I better get it all done tomorrow before our season starts Thursday!
