Someone Needs to Dust and I’m Outta Here

Oh boy, I think that my maid needs to be fired after seeing all of the dust collecting around here! As you can probably guess, the wedding season and traveling combined have kind of kicked my butt. I’ve still been pretty good about getting images up on the Anna Lynch McClary Photography Facebook Page though. The ironic part is that I’m poking my head in here just to let everyone know that I’m jumping on another airplane tomorrow and will be out of reach for a few days. The next couple of weeks I get to travel to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Colorado, and even make a stop in Nebraska for weddings and senior sessions. I’m going to miss my bed and my kitties, but it should be a good time filled with lots of great photo opps.

Oh, and when I return, I vow to be a better blogger. To show my seriousness, here is one image from each of the sessions that I shared on Facebook today.

Hello and Goodbye

Last time I was here I was writing to welcome in 2010 and January. Now I’m saying goodbye to January. Eesh! I don’t plan to make that a habit, but with a handful of trips and a sickness this week that has completely had me down and out, the blog got bumped from my to do list.

This weekend I’m participating in the Classic City Bridal Show in Auburn. I’ve never done a bridal show before, so we’ll see if I come back next week having loved it. I’ve been doing a lot of preparation for the show and ordered a boatload of new samples. My fabulously handy husband, Mitch has also been helping me with my booth construction. Today as I sat in my umpteenth day of a drug haze, I heard our door buzzer and remembered that my new sample album was due to arrive today. I am so glad that I’ll have this big book to show off to all of the brides this weekend. I pretty much instantly fell in love with it!

Second only to the fantastic print and construction quality, my favorite thing about these books are how creative they allow you to be. There are at least a trillion different combinations of cover materials, images mixed in with the covers, and specialty materials (think glass and metal) that you can combine to create a totally unique album.

I went a little non-traditional with this sample, for those of you out there thinking that material might be a little too wild for you.

The creased pages allow the spreads to flow so beautifully throughout the entire album.

Just a note to any 2010 brides, my schedule is filling up very quickly. Email me at anna@annalynchmcclary.com to get the ball rolling today!

I Finally Timed It Right

sterling-colorado

I just got to Sterling and it is PERFECT out! I couldn’t help but jump out of my rental (by the way did you know they still make cars without cruise control?!) and run to my parents’ backyard to get a couple quickie shots. My last few trips I’ve had the worst timing in the world as far as weather goes. I came in last month to a blizzard, while Fort Wayne saw the first nice days it had seen in a long time. This time the thermometer is hovering around 75 here, in Colorado, while it has apparently been raining off and on back in Indiana. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the rain holds off for the TinCaps game tonight, though.

Look for some new ballpark shots up here tomorrow. I have some great sessions planned for this week and then Saturday get to finish the trip off with a wedding that I’ve been looking forward to for quite some time. Not only is it going to be a super fun and beautiful wedding, but it is one of my closest friends. I can’t wait!

Where Did Summer Go?

Where did my life summer go? Seeing as how it’s been a long while since I last posted, you can probably guess that I underestimated the time that I would spend at the ballpark. Although I haven’t had much, or really anytime this summer, I have kept shooting. The nice thing has been that besides the daily baseball shoots, I have been making an effort to shoot more for myself. I’ll slowly share some of those images now that I am getting closer to having my life back.

However, this should not come as a shock that the only images I have handy right now are baseball shots. Here is one that I got when Mitch, my friend Maribeth, and I drove up to Canada for the Northern League All Star Game. It worked out that the guys were playing in Fargo the day before, so we stopped there first.

Thank You, Thank You

I’m sitting at the airport enjoying a little downtime before my flight and thought this would be a great opportunity to thank everyone who made time to their me shoot their families and little ones on this trip. Also, my friends and family who I already miss soooo soooo very much. See you all soon.

Here’s a shot of me being bored enjoying DIA from my MacBook. Also, a good chance to show off the hair chop that I squeezed in yesterday. I’m almost a foot of hair lighter than when I came to Colorado.

I didn’t notice when I logged on this weekend, but I hit the 500 views mark! Don’t be shy, leave me a comment if you’re viewing, I’d love to know who is all out there!

This pic obviously isn’t mine since we haven’t started our season yet. It is however the stadium here and my digital handiwork. Today was a little big of a crazy day at the ballpark, so it’s only fitting that it makes it’s way here.

Another Full Time Job

When Mitch and I moved out here I commited that I was finally going to put everything into my photography and just do it and go full time. For the last couple of months I’ve done exactly that and have loved every second of it. Nothing is going to change with my photography, but I also had a pretty great opportunity come along.

Most everyone knows that Mitch and I are a baseball family. We’re big Rockies fans and we both could watch baseball and softball until we’re blue in the face. What brought us out to Indiana was baseball. Mitch is the head grounds keeper for the Gary Southshore Railcats, a minor league baseball team. Last week Mitch asked me if I would be interested in trying for a position with the team. It turns out that their current photographer and graphic designer is taking a job in the city (Chicago). Well, Monday I start as the graphic designer and photographer for the Railcats. I’m incredibly excited for this chance and am thinking that mixing in this extra creativity is only going to help my photography. So, if I come up missing a little these next couple of weeks please bear with me while I adjust to essentially two full time jobs.

I will still be making regular trips back to Colorado for shoots.  The only dates that are set in stone right now are Aug 30 and Oct 4. I am looking for more appointments around those days. Besides that, you can email me at info@annalynchmcclary.com and let me know when you’d be interested in setting up a time.

New and Old

I’ve been wanting to get this blog up and going for a few months, but being a master procrastinator led me to put it off. Now that I’ve finally done it, expect some new work and a little of the old to give everyone a little spotlight time.
