Back To School

I apparently have a hard time with my days of the week and need to go back to school. When I said this post would be up last Friday, I most definitely meant this Wednesday! Luckily I guessed that a crazy airport day and a packed Colorado trip just might lead to a delay. Because of that I made sure that Sarah saw these the day before I left on her Facebook.

Sarah has such an awesome personality and on top of that some ridiculously gorgeous eyes; both of which just popped at the camera. As we were talking she casually mentioned that photography was something that she’s interested in. This doesn’t just go for Sarah, but any high schooler or even college student, if you are thinking that photography is something you might want to go into give me call or shoot me an email. I’d love to have you shadow me, to help decide if it’s really something you want to do. Not only that, but I’m a big believer in paying it forward. If Dave Fowler hadn’t been so awesome to let me shadow him and eventually come to work for him, I don’t know where I’d be now. I also think that it is so incredibly important to learn your trade and do it legally, something that so many photographers don’t do today. So Sarah, let me know when it would work for you!

Just a few shots for now!

The Senior Streak

I’ve often bragged about my seniors on here. It seems like so often all you hear about high schoolers is what crappy attitudes they have and basically that if it isn’t one issue its another. I don’t know if I’m just lucky, or what’s going on, but since I started shooting seniors a few years back I’ve never left a session and felt like one of them had a bad attitude or even thought, “Wow, they’re in for a rude awakening after high school.” My seniors have all had their heads on straight, been ridiculously polite, and really just super sweet and fun!

My two seniors last week, Richie and Sarah (her sneak peek will be up Friday) definitely fell into this awesome category. Oh, I should also add, that they’ve all been crazy good looking!

On A Roll

Most anyone who knows me at all, knows that I’m a die hard Rockies fan. These last few weeks have been a ton of fun with them playing (mostly) great baseball. They’ve definitely been more fun than the beginning of the season and last year. So, in the spirit of them streaking into what I’m hoping is the postseason, I couldn’t help but point out the streaks that I have going. All of my recent weddings have couples that are just beautiful, but the brides especially have been knockouts! I also continued my awesome seniors streak of shooting the nicest, sweetest, and just fantastic grads (more on that tomorrow).

First things first, the beautiful bride and groom from this last weekend. I think they should get credit for being the best at keeping it cool. Now, I have never (knock on wood) had a crazy bridezilla (that’s another streak!). In fact, they’ve all been pretty laid back. However, when a couple months out from their wedding Becca told me that they were changing their wedding location from South Dakota back to the Denver area I figured she had to be pulling her hair out. As far as I could tell though, she didn’t have a single bald spot and when I arrived at the rehearsal Thursday evening her and Mike were as cool as a cucumber. Friday all of the details fell into perfect place and if she hadn’t told me, I would have never known that this wasn’t their original plan.

A couple quick shots to tease them!

Only Fitting

A few months ago as Amanda worked away on planning her and Brandon’s wedding, she wrote me an email that they were thinking about doing the reception in her parent’s backyard, but wasn’t sure about it yet. As soon as she suggested it, it didn’t seem like there could have been a more fitting location for them.

You see, I’ve known Amanda for a long time. As I thought back on our friendship, I couldn’t help but remember all of the memories that took place at her parent’s house. One year, most of our class gathered out there to put together our homecoming float. Numerous times from high school, and even into college we had team dinners at their home. I even (somehow) remember one crazy college birthday party. One of the more recent, and very special memories was having her baby shower there.

Considering all of these memories that I have there, I can only imagine the millions of things that come to Amanda and Brandon’s mind when they think of this special place. They now can add their wedding reception to that list. It couldn’t have been a more perfect night for these two to celebrate with their closest friends and family.
