And On the 8th Night I Slept

To anyone who knows me, it is a well known fact that I enjoy my sleep and if I don’t get enough of it, I may be a tad bit grumpy. However, if I lived with Janelle and Nathan I don’t think I’d have a prayer of ever getting “enough” sleep.

Their little boy Seth was such a cutie and just so sweet, but that toddler on the go attitude, definitely helped put me to bed a little earlier that night. Now, let’s add in that Janelle was about 8 months pregnant. I can only imagine how easily they fall asleep when quiet comes over their house. Here are just a couple images from their session!

I always scout out a few locations for a session, but didn’t use a single one in their session. They had just moved into a new house, and had so many great options that we happily stayed close to their home.

You Just Never Know

From the moment Sarah emailed me I had been trying to figure out why she seemed so familiar to me. About 5 minutes into her session she informed me that her older sister was in a couple of my classes in high school, and I had my aha moment! From there it continued and I remembered that her sister had lived with my cousin Jess at one point. It then continued even farther when her mom brought up that we’re actually cousins down the line.

Now, let me tell you, this is not the first time this has happened to me. In fact, I remember all through my childhood going to the grocery store for what should have been a 5 minute trip, and it taking a half hour because my mom would run into so and so, who was a second cousin, or third cousin, or who knows. Growing up in the same small town that my mom’s side of family is from, I came to expect this from most outings. I guess being a few years removed from the area I had forgotten that happened. Heck, I’m usually shocked just to hear my maiden name out in Fort Wayne, much less my mom’s maiden name (Hergenreter, yeah say that three times fast). I don’t know why it took me by so much surprise to hear it in Sterling. Perhaps I had assumed that there was no way that there were any other cousins out there that I hadn’t met!

So, Sarah here, is essentially a cousin of mine, which was a fun surprise. However, I’m fairly certain that her piercing blue eyes couldn’t have come from that side of the family. If so, I will immediately feel very gypped. Here are just a couple quick images!

The storm skies of course continued on for Sarah’s session!

We Had It All Figured Out

Or, at least we thought we did! As what seemed like a miniature hurricane rolled through northeast Colorado Monday night, I had to make the call to Jenni to cancel doing pictures that night. We decided that our best bet was to hold off another day and let everything dry out and do the session Wednesday morning.

Plans were made to be broken though, right? When I hopped out of bed Wednesday morning at 5, the sky was still dark. So, it wasn’t until I hit I-76 about 5:30 and the sun started to rise that I saw the black gloom that was ahead of me. Our perfect plan for leaving a day in between was suddenly going down the drain. I hoped that the clouds had magically appeared over Ogallala and at no point went over Julesburg. That of course wasn’t how it happened.

By the time I pulled into their driveway it was evident that it had dumped once again, on our backdrop. Oh well! The horses were out and Alex was brushing them. Colton, who I’m sure wasn’t happy to be up so early on his summer vacation, was also ready to roll. The best part, there was only one of our planned locations that had partially turned into a muddy lake.

You’ll have to check back for more from this session, and trust me you’ll want to!

Colton even provided the entertainment for part of our session!

The Skies (Almost) Make Up For It

Last night marked the third session from this trip that we’ve had to reschedule. In fact, it could have just as easily been four, as I narrowly missed the morning storm that rolled through Julesburg yesterday. There is one fantastic part of all of this nasty weather though… the skies! Tuesday night all of the crazy weather went around Sterling, but came close enough that the storm clouds made for an interesting backdrop.

Tuesday night was also the first part of my session with Alie for her senior pictures. I’ve said it before, but I absolutely love senior sessions. They are up for anything and while they might think that I’m crazy, they at least don’t show it and they go along with it.

anna-lynch-mcclary-photography-33anna-lynch-mcclary-photography-34Just a couple quick sneak peeks from Tuesday evening and this morning’s session. There are plenty more coming from this session!

Getting a Little Anxious

Last night and tonight’s sessions were stormed out. :( Apparently Colorado has decided that it has had enough of this drought stuff and brought back the rainy, stormy, and tornado watch filled evenings of my childhood. Yes, for you non-Coloradoans reading this, Colorado gets its fair share of severe weather that doesn’t include snow. However, Mother Nature’s rediscovery has left me wanting to shoot and get all of these ideas that are bouncing around in my head, out and into reality.

These rainouts have given me a little time to play catch up with my card downloading and backing up. The bummer part though, my computer has decided to start acting up on me. Luckily its warrantied, but it can’t get fixed until I get back to Fort Wayne. :(

However, before it decided to do this new little trick, I did get a couple of images from Nicole and Zach’s Saturday wedding ready for a bit of a peek.

Hopefully by Wednesday I have at least one other session that I can share a sneak peek with you from.

Dear Mr. FedEx Driver,

Dear Mr. FedEx Driver,

I’m writing you today to apologize for tackling you at my door, and more than likely embarassing you with all of the hugs and kisses I planted on you. You see, I had been looking forward to seeing you with that big box all week. As soon as I heard your diesel engine roar up, all of the patience I had displayed waiting for you… well, it out went out the window.

Might I suggest for next time, killing your engine before you’re in earshot, rolling in, creeping up my stairs, lightly placing the package against my door, knocking and running for your life like you did as a little kid on May Day? I’m afraid that’s the only way that we can avoid an incident like this for future canvas deliveries.

Sincerely,

Embarrassed and Excited in Indiana

In all seriousness, I think opening the big box I got from Simply Canvas this morning was better than Christmas morning 20 years ago! After working in our living room for the past 6 months, patiently waiting for Mitch to get my big beautiful desk built, I have finally been promised a finished office upon my return from Colorado! That of course meant that I could finally order the big canvases I had mapped out for my office.

If I had it my way, the walls would be wallpapered with canvases. However, since I’m trying to play it cool, I opted for three big ones for now. I also have a few other prints coming.

(The vertical is a 24×38, horizontal is 24×36, and the one that you can’t totally see is 24×34.)

Choosing the images was nearly impossible. You can see two of the images that I decided on here and can kind of see the third one, still wrapped up behind the wedding image. I can’t wait to see these hung up and will of course share the finished product with you when I get back!

What’s That?

Is that smugness in his eye? I do believe so. Why wouldn’t he be smug? He knows that it is Monday, and while he takes one of his eight naps today, the rest of America is saying, “It must be Monday,” as they groggily drag themselves out of bed and off to work.

Working at home is great, except when all I want is a nap, and my two lazy coworkers (aka RC, the pictured smug one, and Griffey, she was too lazy to take a picture) are napping once an hour.

The Party That Kept Going

To say that everyone was excited to celebrate with Lisa and Haas would be the understatement of the century. Once the reception started, the excitement continued to crescendo through the evening and well into the early morning!

At one point in the night the exhaustion from the late night at the rehearsal dinner and the early morning with the girls began to catch up to me. It was at that point, that I started looking around and seeing so many of our high school and college classmates. So many of them with their spouses and even a few with their kids. When did we get old enough to get married and have kids?! For a few minutes I really felt like life had started to fly way too quickly. However, then it was time for the cake cutting…

anna-lynch-mcclary-wedding-photography-28

… and I remembered that we weren’t too old to still have tons of fun, and so the night continued on that note!anna-lynch-mcclary-wedding-photography-26

They even kicked their first dance off a little unconventionally!

anna-lynch-mcclary-wedding-photography-29anna-lynch-mcclary-wedding-photography-27anna-lynch-mcclary-wedding-photography-31anna-lynch-mcclary-wedding-photography-32anna-lynch-mcclary-wedding-photography-33anna-lynch-mcclary-wedding-photography-30

From the first dance on, the dance floor wasn’t empty once. In fact, it was completely packed the entire night!

Where Were We?

Somewhere around here I think…

anna-lynch-mcclary-wedding-photography-16anna-lynch-mcclary-wedding-photography-20

So, in the first post I didn’t really get into the story here. You see, I’ve always had this group of guys that I consider practically brothers. They always made it pretty clear when I dated guys that they didn’t think were up to par, and in my not very discreet way, I always made sure I did the same for them. These guys usually seemed to find nice girls (well, most of the time), but for one reason or another, like many high school and college relationships they eventually fizzled out. Now, if I had a dollar for every time that it fizzled and I was almost immediately asked who I was going to fix them up with next, I would most definitely be a millionaire. A matchmaker I am not!

However, the matchmaking for Haas shouldn’t have been all that hard. I think anyone who really knew him, knew the girl that he needed; she had to be super sweet, beautiful, have a little country in her, not be afraid to get dirty, be able to keep him in line, and just be overall great. Well, I can safely say that when I found out that Haas and Lisa were dating I immediately slapped myself on the forehead and wondered how I didn’t think of Lisa long, long ago?! She fits every quality on that list, plust a few that I’m sure he didn’t even know he wanted!

There’s nothing better than seeing your friends and family 100% genuinely happy, and I haven’t seen anything less out of these two. Congratulations again Lisa and Haas!

Raw happiness is my favorite thing to capture!

Friday I’ll post up a few images from the reception. See you then!
