Someone Needs to Dust and I’m Outta Here

Oh boy, I think that my maid needs to be fired after seeing all of the dust collecting around here! As you can probably guess, the wedding season and traveling combined have kind of kicked my butt. I’ve still been pretty good about getting images up on the Anna Lynch McClary Photography Facebook Page though. The ironic part is that I’m poking my head in here just to let everyone know that I’m jumping on another airplane tomorrow and will be out of reach for a few days. The next couple of weeks I get to travel to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Colorado, and even make a stop in Nebraska for weddings and senior sessions. I’m going to miss my bed and my kitties, but it should be a good time filled with lots of great photo opps.

Oh, and when I return, I vow to be a better blogger. To show my seriousness, here is one image from each of the sessions that I shared on Facebook today.

Gone Fishin’- Fort Wayne Children’s Photographer

My season kicks into full swing this week with seniors and engagement sessions and my wedding season starts next week. I’m so looking forward to getting back into the groove of things and hustle and bustle, but I was not expecting to start it off in the hole. Last week, out of nowhere (after spending the previous week out of the office) the flu got a hold of me. So that to do list that wasn’t all that intimidating is now looking a little scarier. I’m behind on emails right now, so if you’re waiting on one, know that I’m not ignoring you. Now, let’s not let this blog sit empty and unrefreshed for another day.

Brady took me fishing in his friend’s pond and out around the farm last fall.

Welcome to 2010

It may be 2010 in the real world, but in my little blog world I still have lots to post from 2009. I find it so crazy that it has been 10 years since all of the Y2K worry, and even more how much has changed in a short 10 years. 10 years ago I was just discovering the freedom that being 16 and having a driver’s license could bring. I thought that life was incredibly hard and full of stress, if only I had known how easy it was. It is hard to believe that over the last decade I met some of my best friends, graduated from high school and college, moved enough times to make me never want to do it again, had my heart broken a couple times, went through some rough patches, met and married the man of my dreams, started my own business and found so much happiness. It really feels like all at once 2000 was a lifetime ago and a minute ago. I’m sure in 2020 I’ll have a million new memories to add to the list, and feel the exact same way.

A little note to anyone waiting on an email or call back from me, today is my first day back after about three weeks off. I’m slowly working my way through my inboxes so keep an eye out!

Now, to kick off 2010 right, with a blue eyed little boy who has grown an absolute TON since we shot these!

This could quite possibly be one of my favorite images ever. There is something just so timeless about Hudson and his mommy.

Wanna Party?

I go into my children and family sessions with a very open mind and try to have a very open schedule. Kiddos have their days planned out the way they want them, and who am I to change those plans?! When Brenda and I started working out the details of getting some family pictures and shots of her little guy Ethan and her niece and nephew Keira and Jace, we attempted to plan around them sleeping in a little later. We thought that since they were in different timezones and would have been playing hard at Grandma and Grandpa’s house that they would have been a little extra sleepy.

Ethan apparently didn’t get his extra dose of sleepiness and instead decided to throw a late night/ early morning party at Grandma and Grandpa’s. He of course invited his mommy and daddy to the party. When I arrived that morning and everyone was just finishing getting ready, Ethan was happily talking up a storm. Brenda was pretty surprised as she told me about his little party plans. It was at that point that we should have knocked on wood. No big deal though, we may not have gotten tons of smiley pictures of Ethan, but his big blue eyes make for great somber shots.

For some reason, Ethan didn’t invite Jace and Keira to the party. You couldn’t hardly get Keira to stop smiling and all it took was a little car talk to earn Jace’s trust. I about fell over when he pointed out the chassis on my “ruby red Dodge”. Maybe I should have asked if he could do a quick oil change for me!

Of course the normal two sneak peek shots wouldn’t do when you have three cuties!

Try, Try, Try Again

From Thanksgiving to Christmas last year, Mitch and I lucked out and were able to spend that time back in Colorado with our family and friends. During that time, I of course decided to try to pack as many sessions in as I could. However, it was December, and the reality of the weather situation was that it was really cold. Because of that, quite a few of my sessions got pushed back into our last week there. The weather appeared to be cooperating, so what else could have gone wrong?

Well, Christmas night a sickness that stuck with me for almost two weeks hit, and it knocked me out! That next morning I was supposed to have a family session with the Schecks. So, sick Anna + two teacher parents + two little kids at the end of Christmas break, meant that we’d have to reschedule. I wasn’t terribly devastated though, as I knew that my next trip back would have to be much warmer. Little did I know that the next time that our schedules would align would be almost six months later! Ironic thing was, we got rained out on our first try! We ended up pushing it back to my last day in Colorado and for a little while the stars aligned, the weather was perfect, and there weren’t even any snakes in the field!

Just a couple of Annika and Brandon to tease you with, for now!

And On the 8th Night I Slept

To anyone who knows me, it is a well known fact that I enjoy my sleep and if I don’t get enough of it, I may be a tad bit grumpy. However, if I lived with Janelle and Nathan I don’t think I’d have a prayer of ever getting “enough” sleep.

Their little boy Seth was such a cutie and just so sweet, but that toddler on the go attitude, definitely helped put me to bed a little earlier that night. Now, let’s add in that Janelle was about 8 months pregnant. I can only imagine how easily they fall asleep when quiet comes over their house. Here are just a couple images from their session!

I always scout out a few locations for a session, but didn’t use a single one in their session. They had just moved into a new house, and had so many great options that we happily stayed close to their home.

What’s That?

Is that smugness in his eye? I do believe so. Why wouldn’t he be smug? He knows that it is Monday, and while he takes one of his eight naps today, the rest of America is saying, “It must be Monday,” as they groggily drag themselves out of bed and off to work.

Working at home is great, except when all I want is a nap, and my two lazy coworkers (aka RC, the pictured smug one, and Griffey, she was too lazy to take a picture) are napping once an hour.

Shaking the Travel Hangover

My trips back to Colorado usually have a week that follows that consists of doing laundry, cleaning the house (I could swear it was clean when I left), and playing the game of catch up that presents itself every single time. I managed to shake it in a couple of days this time, instead of taking a whole week though. Little Ethan’s pictures were the first motivator for me.

Over the last year I’ve gotten a few opportunities to play and shoot with little Ethan. This one however, was a little different. You may remember this sneak peek from his nursery. Our friends Troy and Julie had been wanting to add to their family for a few years. There were however a few road blocks, and apparently those road blocks were meant to be, because without them little Ethan wouldn’t have come into their lives. After a little over a year of fostering him with hopes of adopting, Ethan’s mommy and daddy are officially Troy and Julie. Last month his adoption was finalized and I can’t begin to put into words the relief that his new parents finally felt.

I can safely say that Ethan is a very lucky little boy to get those two for parents, and they are just as lucky to have gotten such a cutie! Congratulations guys, Mitch and I are so glad that you can officially start this new chapter and not play the “what if” worrying game anymore!

I mentioned in this session’s sneak peek that Ethan was teething, so we were expecting a fussy little boy. Well folks, here’s the proof that for a couple of hours he wasn’t bothered with that pesky tooth pain.

anna-lynch-mcclary-009anna-lynch-mcclary-008

I’m definitely planning on making a big canvas out of one of these next field shots, but have no idea how I’m going to choose which one.

Tickled His Funny Bone

While I was downloading images last night, I couldn’t help but let out a laugh. You see when I arrived to start Ethan’s session yesterday, his mom was a little worried that pictures might not go over very well. Ethan is going through the fun of cutting teeth right now, and yesterday and the night before were especially rough for him. I would have never guessed it though! As soon as I pulled my camera out he started smiling, posing, and giggling. There was a point toward the end that he wasn’t just giggling, he was knee slapping, belly laughing.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone back to look at this series today, just for a smile. I know his mom will more than appreciate a little sneak peek and I figured there were probably a few people out there that could use a smile too.

Stop That Clock

It didn’t really hit me how quickly this past year had passed until December when I was shooting pictures of little Ethan and realized he was almost a year old. Where did the past year go?

Since I can’t go back and slow it down, I better just embrace it. Ethan has grown to be even cuter than he was, and I have a feeling that with his blue eyes he’s only going to get cuter and cuter as the years come and go.

kotch032

Do you see what I mean about those eyes?

kotch022

I wish that I could capture the sound that came with this picture. Ethan doesn’t have a giggle… he has a full out laugh. There is no way that you can hear that laugh and not join in.

Before we did Ethan’s pictures we did some family shots. Here are the cards that I delivered to Troy and Julie.
